This cemetery is located in the northwest quadrant of Red River County, Texas. GPS COORDINATES: Datum WGS84: 33 Deg 40.770N, 95 Deg 13.048W. The Bluff Cemetery is located about 10 miles northwest of Clarksville. Wyett Phillips and his wife Ethel were paid $1 by the Bluff Community Church for 1 acre of the SW corner of the Robert Jones headright survey on 6 Sep 1946. Also on 10 Aug 1948 Willie E. Phillips sold to Bluff Cemetery 1 acre of the Robert Jones survey and it was recorded on 20 Aug 1948. The oldest marked grave with a complete date is that of Abel J. Bollinger who died 5 Mar 1872. This cemetery was surveyed by Lawrence and Sue Dale on 1 and 2 Feb 1997. We visited the site again on 21 Jan 2003 and took the GPS readings. We also did a re-walk of the cemetery on 17 Feb 2004 adding new burials and noting marker changes. As of 31 Dec 2004 this cemetery had 722 documented burials.
